Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) offers its FalconCam once again online.  The adult falcons -- named Roosevelt and Freedom -- have entered a new nesting season in their urban perch overlooking downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana.  A new, improved surveillance camera has been installed on the roof of One Summit Square which will provide I&M’s website with better close-up views of the falcon offspring as they hatch and mature.

Indiana Michigan Power is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information resulting in the arrest and conviction of any person stealing or vandalizing utility equipment. The reward is being offered because of an increase in metal theft from utility property.

AEP’s Cook Unit 2 refueling begins following record performance; $70 million in capital improvement projects to be completed
American Electric Power’s (AEP:NYSE) Cook Nuclear Plant Unit 2 set several fuel cycle records as the reactor was safely shut down early Saturday to begin a refueling outage. In addition to refueling the reactor and regular outage maintenance and testing work, this outage includes replacing the reactor vessel head and other major component and system improvements. Total project costs will be more than $70 million.

I&M SAYS THIEVES COULD BE PLACING PUBLIC SAFETY AND SERVICE RELIBILITY AT RISK
Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) reports a rise in the theft of electrical equipment. The company says that some thieves are even cutting into power lines and other equipment that is energized and serving customers. I&M is asking customers to report to law enforcement officials any suspicious activity near a utility pole, tower or substation.

COOK NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2 COMPLETES REFUELING, SETS SITE RECORD FOR SAFETY AND UNIT RECORD FOR RADIATION WORK PRACTICES

Indiana Michigan Power’s Cook Nuclear Plant Unit 2 returned to service Saturday, May 6 following a refueling outage that began March 25. There were no recordable injuries for either the 1,400-person plant staff or the more than 900 contracted outage workers during the refueling outage. A unit record was also set for radiation work practices.

I&M, SAINT MEINRAD BEGIN PLANTING 80,000 TREES
AS PART OF CARBON SEQUESTRATION PROJECT

Indiana Michigan Power, owner of nearby Rockport Plant, and Saint Meinrad Archabbey have begun planting over 80,000 hardwood trees on property owned by the Benedictine Order. The two groups reached an agreement in February to plant hardwood trees on 180 acres of monastery grounds to help sequester carbon from the atmosphere.

Gas City and I&M are building an electrical station – called Mississinewa Station -- located on the southeast corner of St. Rd. 22 and CR 500E. It will not only provide power to a  new Wal-Mart distribution center, but will improve reliability for current customers, and expand the capability to provide reliable power to future economic development projects in the area.
