Thank you for your patience.
Nothing beats the ease and convenience of charging your EV at home. Wake up every day to a full charge, ready for all your adventures. And nothing beats the price. Our Off-Peak rates give you significant savings – enough to drive 4,700 free miles a year – year, after year. And, if you sign up now, you’re eligible for $500 by joining the program. I&M’s incentive helps offset the cost to set up or retrofit your current charger configuration to measure off-peak PEV charging. PEV charging from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am daily will be discounted 30% from our standard residential per kWh rate.
First, you’ll need to own or lease a plug-in EV (PEV) and have a residential or small commercial account with us. Customers who already have a Level 2 PEV charger installed are eligible.
To get started, submit your application online to I&M.
Once your application is approved, you will receive detailed, step-by-step instructions requiring you and your licensed local electrician to:
After I&M has the approved local inspection, we will install the submeter and activate the discounted off-peak billing.
Submit an itemized invoice for the electrical work and then we will pay you the $500 rebate.
Please keep in mind you are free to use any licensed Indiana electrician for the I&M PEV incentive work.
However, should you need help finding licensed electrician, I&M has partnered with HomeServe to provide turnkey PEV charger electrical wiring and installation support.
Once your application has been approved, and should you be interested in working with HomeServe, please go to their online estimator tool to get started.
Also, HomeServe is also offering a PEV Charger and Home Wiring Protection Plan to I&M customers now charging or planning to charge PEVs, which includes a home wiring protection and up to $500 to replace your PEV charger.
We recommend hiring a licensed electrician to install the necessary submeter, according to the schematic below.
Off-Peak rates available specifically for your EV apply from 11pm-6am every day.
No. You can charge your EV any time, same as before. However, you’ll get the benefit of the lower rate only during Off-Peak hours.
It is not possible to adopt the Off-Peak rate because the net metering equipment does not differentiate between On-Peak/Off-Peak EV charging.
You’ll need a sub-meter base and a sub-meter; the submeter is provided to you free of charge. You are responsible for hiring an electrician to install the sub-meter base. Once that is complete, we install the sub-meter.
Like the primary electric meter, it remains with the house and we maintain ownership of both. Being Off-Peak ready is a great selling point when selling your home.
Your application undergoes a review for eligibility immediately, and we’ll coordinate with you to install a submeter once your electrical installation is inspected.
