TULSA, Okla. (September 22, 2022) – Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) announced a $50,000 American Electric Power Foundation grant to Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa to help complete the agency’s $15 million Delivering Hope Capital Campaign.
The grant was announced at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the new state-of-the-art facility at 5252 E. 51st St.
Built on three acres in the heart of Tulsa, the new building will allow Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa to meet its goal of serving 1 million meals a year by 2025. The agency serves clients in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Sand Springs and other parts of metropolitan Tulsa.
“With 28 percent of Oklahoma seniors facing food insecurity, the need is critical,” said PSO Vice President of Regulatory and Finance Matthew A. Horeled, treasurer of the Meals on Wheels board of directors. “PSO is proud to advocate for this grant from the AEP Foundation, and we look forward to seeing the new facility alive with activity.”
Katie Oatsvall, president and CEO of Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa, welcomed the grant.
“Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa is committed to preserving the dignity and wellbeing of thousands of isolated seniors by delivering nutritious meals, wellness checks, and home safety repairs,” Oatsvall said. “Funds from AEP Foundation will be used to bring us to the finish line of our $15 million capital campaign. As we put the finishing touches on all the work that will allow us to expand our services and increase the number of meals we serve, these funds will ensure that our vision and goals will be met. We sincerely thank PSO and AEP Foundation.”
