Foundation Helps to Equip Teachers with the Right Tools for the Job

August 25, 2023

Several of us are familiar with the principal items on a school supplies list: paper, pens, folders, markers, binders and so on. While many have rounded out their back-to-school shopping, teachers in the South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC) were provided the opportunity to grab necessary supplies for the upcoming year for free. Organized by the South Bend Education Foundation, the annual August Back-to-School Bash offered students and their families a chance to celebration the upcoming school year. It also provides educators the opportunity to visit the Teacher Store, presented by the AEP Foundation, for their classroom essentials. This year’s Teacher Store assisted 104 SBCSC teachers with close to $10,000 worth of supplies and materials.

The South Bend Education Foundation strives to advocate, promote and fund initiatives to enrich learning experiences for students and staff within SBCSC. With roughly 16,000 students and over 3,000 employed staff, SBCSC is the largest school system in St. Joseph County and fourth largest school corporation in the state of Indiana.
