Current Aerial Tree Trimming Extended into Allen County

December 19, 2024

FORT WAYNE, Ind., Dec. 13, 2024 – Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) began tree trimming around transmission power lines in Grant and Huntington, Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Wayne and Union counties earlier this month. That work is now being extended into Allen County and will continue through the end of the year.

Trimming will take place, weather permitting, Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. near transmission power lines. There will be no trimming on Christmas Eve or Christmas. This work is part of I&M’s commitment to providing safe and reliable energy while balancing the importance of trees in our environment.

I&M is contracting with Rotor Blade, LLC to perform the work using a helicopter-based, tree-trimming saw. The saw is suspended beneath a helicopter by a vertical boom with multiple blades attached. Aerial trimming is faster and can reach off-road areas easier than traditional trimming.
