Caller threatens to terminate service if money not paid immediately

ASHLAND, KY -- Kentucky Power wants to warn the public about a phone scam that is occurring in the Ashland, KY area.  Someone is calling area residents claiming to be with Kentucky Power and threatening to cut off electricity if the call recipient does not pay money immediately to avoid the disconnection. Kentucky Power does not call customers to ask for personal information, bank information or credit card numbers. If you are in doubt as to the credibility of a call you receive asking for personal information, please hang up and do not provide any information concerning your account. It is not necessary to contact Kentucky Power, but if you have a question concerning your account, please call our customer solution center at 1-800-572-1113.
